James & Son History

James & Son is a family owned company which was established in the United Kingdom in 1850, when the original Mr James, who was feeding Brewers' Grain to his London dairy herd, started selling a surplus of the spent grain to neighbouring farmers.  Since then the company has opened offices in Scotland, Australia, Argentina and New Zealand.

James & Son (Australia) Pty Ltd was formed in 1990.  Since then the company has grown to become the leading provider of animal feeds derived from the food and beverage industries.  The volume of materials handled has grown substantially throughout Australia over recent years.

James & Sons' primary market in Australia has been dairy farmers but over recent years it has broadened  its offering and now supplies nutritionally tailored feed solutions to beef, sheep and equine customers.

In February 2004 the Australian company was extended with the development of a "Mix" Mill with a retail outlet adjoining the Mill. This gave James & Son the capacity to customize feed mixes specifically to meet the needs of the farmer and a racehorse trainer.  With the capacity to harness the benefits of by-products complemented with traditional feed grains James & Son is able to make the ideal feeding solution at extremely competitive prices.

In all James & Son (Australia) Pty Ltd has become a prominent member of the Australian stock feed industry in Australia.  It is unique in the way that it uses an extensive range of by-products to complement a full range of traditional feeds to ensure that its customer are achieving the most profitable feeding solutions.
