Jessamy Walsh & Johnnie Walker

Since winning the Sydney International Young Horse Event on her own Johnnie Walker in 2011, Jess hasn’t looked back. She has continued to ride her own Johnnie Walker, as well as two horses (Boris Campbell & Better On Sunday) for Alan Campbell, a previous Olympic Team member. Alan sadly never actually got to compete in the Olympics, as his horse died on the operating table shortly before the team left.

Jess has not been out of the placing’s in 2012, and most consistently wins on any one of her three horses as she brings them up through the grades. I will source her record for you for 2012 should you need to see it.

Tom McDermott Winning Again - and Breaking Records

5 October 2012 - Home from Europe and Out and About Again.

After being in Germany for 3 months I was looking forward to training and competing with my horses again in Australia.

Training at Bockmanns stables in Germany was a great experience. I was lucky enough to be the recipient of an EA Patrons Scholarship to help with my expenses while in Germany. I rode at the young horse shows in Germany in style classes which are judged on the horse’s ride ability and jumping technique, several of the horses I was competing qualified for the Bundeschapionat (the grand final of young horse competitions) which was held after I came home.

When I arrived home my horses were back in light work ready for me to start some serious work. We were only able to take them out twice before the Australian Showjumping Championship due to the wet weather. First we took them to Barmedman Show and then the Ken Gibbs Memorial Weekend at Wodonga conducted by the Border and District Showjumping Club. The older horses jumped super and only took them for one day and then we took some young horses the following day. It was a nice warm up show for the Australian Showjumping Championships at Werribee to be held the next weekend.

Tom McDermott does a very well deserved lap of honour after winning both Young & Senior Australian Champion
